Arlington • Utah State went out Saturday night with another devastating injury, trying to get a win without starter Spencer Butterfield.

But the banged-up Aggies, only two days after a beating at the hands of Louisiana Tech, wasn't ready.

The Aggies struggled on offense, scoring only six field goals in the second half on the way to a 61-46 loss to UT-Arlington on the road. Marcel Davis led with 15 points, and TeNale Roland filled in admirably with 12, but spotty shooting and turnovers galore added up to another loss for Utah State.

The Aggies had 16 turnovers, struggling to make adjustments to their lineup and thrusting another reserve into a starting role. It had an ugly result, as Utah State shot only 30.4 percent from the floor.

The streakiness helped a mediocre-shooting Mavericks squad pull away with a barrage of 3-pointers. Kevin Butler led the team with 21 points, going 5-of-10 from long range.

The Aggies made a run at UT-Arlington, at one time tying the game at 20-all. But they then couldn't make a field goal for the final six minutes of the half, falling behind 28-22 at the break.
