Sunday will be a wet one across northern and central Utah.

But the good news is people living below 6,500 feet will probably see more rain than snow. However, there is a chance that rain may briefly mix with snow Sunday evening.

But those above 6,500 feet north of Salt Lake City and above 7,000 feet south of Salt Lake City can expect to see some occasional slush and road snow. Up to 7 inches of fresh powder may accumulate starting early Sunday evening mainly in the Wasatch Mountains, the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City predicted.

Residents living in Brigham City and north throughout the Cache Valley could expect a rain/snow mix. Up to 2 inches of snow could accumulate on grassy surfaces through late Sunday.

Anyone hoping to hit the backcountry slopes this weekend should use some caution. Every range in Utah was under a moderate risk of avalanches, according to the Utah Avalanche Center.
