In "Cellphone drivers" (Forum, March 3), Ralph Stevenson is frustrated by poor drivers who are also on their cellphones.
I don't think it is due to cellphone use but to poor driving skills and habits. (Yeah, I know, studies say that driving while talking on a cellphone is similar to driving drunk.)
During my drive home, I regularly talk on the phone to my wife or mother. There have been instances when they will ask me if I'm still there because I have stopped talking to focus on my driving in a particular situation.
For example, once, waiting to make a left turn, the light turned green and the idiot behind me laid on his horn for me to go. I rolled down my window and pointed to the gentleman crossing the street while pushing a stroller, along with his young son on a bike. The real problem is that people just don't pay attention, period.
Cellphone or not, people still don't use their signals, and they make inattentive moves.
