Two great ideas being promoted in our Utah Legislature concern socializing cost and privatizing profit. This form of theft from the taxpayer or ratepayer must not be allowed:
• If former Utah Senate President Al Mansell and current Senate President Wayne Niederhauser, R-Sandy, believe it is such a great idea to relocate the Utah State Prison, they need to come up with a group of private investors and adjacent property owners to pay all costs of the relocation ("Utah State Prison bill jumps ahead amid questions of conflict," Tribune, March 1).
• If constructing a nuclear plant in Utah is such a great idea, the promoters of such folly need to pay for it. Utility ratepayers should not be forced by law to pay for it ("Ratepayers would help Utah go nuclear," Tribune, Feb. 19).
