First rule when you're starting a new anything: When you're picking a name, get on the Google to see if it's already taken.

The four Utah Valley University alums who started a comedy troupe back in August 2010 didn't do that — and got caught.

The four — Robbie X. Pierce, Eric Phillips, Greg Larsen and Kyle Oram — started as an open universtiy club and called themselves "Laughing Matters." The foursome had some success, earning the title of Best New Club at UVU, and now performing a monthly show at Provo's ComedySportz.

Recently, though, the group found out that the name "Laughing Matters" was taken. They learned this in a "cease and desist" letter from a lawyer, saying that the name was copyrighted.

The Utah County troupe will be revealing its new name at its next shows, Thursday, March 14, and Monday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m., at ComedySportz.

"We are raising money to take our show to competition at a comedy festival in Los Angeles," Phillips said in a press release. "We will be revealing our new name, performing our show, and then after a short break, we'll perform the show we will be taking to L.A. for those who wish to stick around and watch."
