A Salt Lake City popcorn maker wants to get sweet with you — and is asking for help to make it happen.

Pop Art Snacks, the Salt Lake City maker of organic gourmet popcorn (sold in stores all over the area, as well as at the Broadway and Tower theaters), has started a Kickstarter campaign online to raise $15,000 to buy a 20-gallon caramelizer and a cooling table.

With those, the company says, it can start making sweet flavors. The two they've been experimenting with are honey lavender and a maple-smoked sea salt. Pop Art now sells four savory flavors: white cheddar jalapeƱo, white pepper Parmesan, Thai coconut curry and rosemary truffle.

Contributors will receive (depending on the size of their donations) free popcorn, T-shirts, trucker hats and a thank-you on the company website.

As of today, the campaign has raised more than $1,000 in pledges — with more than a month to go.
