The Senate voted Friday to officially rename Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah in Price to simply Utah State University Eastern.

It voted unanimously to pass SB258, and sent it to the House for consideration.

Its sponsor, Sen. David Hinkins, R-Orangeville, earlier said that when the College of Eastern Utah and Utah State University merged a few years ago, "We hadn't completely agreed upon a name." They have now settled on Utah State University Eastern, or USUE for short.

"We're proud of the merger. It has helped a lot," Hinkins earlier said in committee. The full Senate passed the bill with no debate.
