Utah forecast: Winter weather melts away

More mild weather was in store for Utahns Tuesday as the last full week of winter goes out with a whimper.

The National Weather Service forecasted highs in the mid 50s for Salt Lake, Tooele and Davis counties Tuesday, with lows dropping into the upper 30s at night. In Utah County, temperatures were expected to reach the high 50s, with lows in the mid 30s.

By late Tuesday or early Wednesday the Wasatch Front should also see mostly sunny skies.

In Cache County, highs Tuesday will likely hover in the mid 40s, with lows around 30.

Air quality across the state was expected to be similarly mild, with green status in all counties.

Avalanche danger Tuesday remained mostly unchanged from Monday, with a moderate risk of snow slides along the Wasatch Front and a considerable risk in the Uintas. However, in Cache County, the risk of avalanches Tuesday and was low.

In southern Utah, the weather is expected to be even balmier Tuesday, with highs in St. George reaching the lower 70s.

For those interested in specific temperatures, the high in Salt Lake City was expected to be 56 degrees Tuesday and 61 degrees Wednesday; Provo, 57 and 63, respectively; Ogden, 54 and 59; Logan, 46 and 50; Wendover 60 and 63; Duchesne, 51 and 54; Cedar City, 59 and 65; St. George, 72 and 78; and Moab, 58 and 65.
