A Cache County longboarder who hit his head during a downhill run in the Providence area earlier this month has died of his injuries.
Darren Milano, 26, was in critical condition when he was flown by helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray on March 6.
Milano died the next day. Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Locke said he suffered a "massive brain injury."
According to a witness, Milano was rolling down a slope near 100 South in Providence when his board began to wobble. He fell backward, landing in an seated position before hitting his head on the pavement, Locke said.
Milano was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
"We'll never know if a helmet could have prevented this," Locke said. "He suffered some pretty bad head trauma."
