Forecasters predict perfect weather for Pi Day

Thursday is Pi Day — or the day when the date is the number Pi — and the forecast couldn't be any better for a celebration.

In Salt Lake, Utah and Tooele counties, forecasters expect highs in lower 70s and lows in the lower 40s. Davis and Weber counties won't be far behind, with highs right around 70 and lows in the mid 40s. Air quality all along the Wasatch Front should be good Thursday as well.

In other words, forecasters expect ideal weather for getting out — and possibly getting a piece of pie for Pi Day.

Other Utah cities also should see mild, spring-like weather Thursday, with highs in the mid 50s in Cache County and in the low 80s in St. George.

In Utah's back country regions, the warm weather has been melting snow and Thursday the Utah Avalanche Center downgraded the risk of snow slides to low in Ogden, Provo and Salt Lake City. The risk of avalanches in the Logan area and in the Uintas remained moderate Thursday.

In Salt Lake City forecasters predicted a high of 72 Thursday and 67 Friday; Provo, 73 and 69, respectively; Ogden, 69 and 63; Tooele, 71 and 67; Logan, 55 and 54; Park City, 61 and 59; Wendover, 67 and 64; Duchesne, 59 and 61; St. George, 83 and 81; Cedar City, 73 and 73; Moab, 69 and 74.
