NFL notes: Elvis Dumervil fires agent
The agent for former Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil, who was released on Friday when the paperwork for his restructure wasn't filed on time, told USA Today on Saturday that he has been notified Dumervil will fire him.
Marty Magid, who claimed the Broncos' changing the terms of their initial proposal led to a delay that resulted in the paperwork not being sent to the NFL offices in time, said Dumervil called him Saturday afternoon to say he wants to "move in another direction."
Magid, who received hundreds of emails from angry Broncos fans on Friday, said he didn't fight the decision and will waive the five-day waiting period for Dumervil to hire a new agent, thus allowing his new representative to negotiate with teams immediately.
"It's terrible, but he said he knows what happened and why it happened," Magid said. "I know the people in Denver think I should be fired, but like I said [Friday], there were a lot of reasons for why it happened."
Magid told USA Today the Broncos presented a proposal to him and Dumervil at Friday that contained only an injury guarantee on $3.5 million of his 2014 salary. Magid said the team proposed a full guarantee on that amount earlier in the week.
The new proposal would pay Dumervil $8 million in base salary this upcoming season (down from $12 million) but give the Broncos the ability to cut him before the 2014 season for skill or salary-cap purposes without owing him a dime.
Stallworth burned
NFL wide receiver Donte' Stallworth suffered "severe burns" when a hot-air balloon carrying him and his girlfriend hit power lines in South Miami-Dade early Saturday, his lawyer told The Miami Herald. His girlfriend was also injured, although her condition was unknown.
The accident comes four years after Stallworth was involved in another tragic accident in south Florida, where he maintains a home. In March 2009, Stallworth hit and killed a pedestrian in an early-morning car crash. He pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter and spent 24 days in jail.

Niners • San Francisco signed safety Craig Dahl to a three-year contract Saturday, finding an apparent replacement after Dashon Goldson joined Tampa Bay earlier in the week. The 27-year-old Dahl spent the past four seasons with the St. Louis Rams and had 78 tackles and an interception in 2012.
Jets • Cornerback Darrelle Revis is still with New York, and he's got $1 million more to show for it. Revis, the subject of trade rumors, earned a roster bonus Saturday. The 27-year-old Revis is recovering from a torn knee ligament that sidelined him most of last season.
Patriots • New England released receiver Brandon Lloyd and re-signed defensive backs Aqib Talib, Kyle Arrington and Adrian Wilson. Lloyd had 74 receptions for 911 yards and four touchdowns last season, with 12 receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown in two playoff games.
Giants • Former Dallas linebacker Dan Connor has signed with New York as a free agent.
