Corvallis, Ore. • Utah gymnast Tory Wilson's streak is over.
Wilson, who ranks second nationally with a 9.96 on the vault and was the first Utah gymnast to go undefeated on an event in the regular season, saw her streak end at the Pac-12 Championships when UCLA's Vanessa Zamarripa won the event with a 10.0.
Wilson scored a 9.95.
"She is a great gymnast who is extremely talented," Utah coach Greg Marsden said of the UCLA standout. "Tory had a great vault, she couldn't have done anything more. She not only had a great vault, she had a great meet for us."
Wilson was Utah's highest finisher in the all-around with a 39.4 that put her in fourth place.
She won or tied for 10 titles this year. One more victory would tie Theresa Kulikowski's milestone of 12 victories she earned on the uneven bars in 2001.
Postseason awards
The Utes were shut out of the Pac-12 awards, as Cal's Serena Leong won Freshman of the Year, Stanford's Amanda Spinner won Specialist of the Year, Zamarripa won Gymnast of the Year and Cal coach Justin Howell was the Coach of the Year.
Oregon State's Stephanie McGregor was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Utes were hoping Wilson would be a candidate for Specialist of the Year, but she wasn't eligible because she competed in six meets as an all-arounder, two more than allowed for the category.
Down and out
Washington's effort to earn the high score in the afternoon session wasn't without a price as Megan Whitney, a senior who transferred from Utah following the 2010 season, tore her Achilles tendon during her vault takeoff.
Whitney was given a score of 8.55, which was later dropped.
The Huskies finished with a 48.675 on the event, the lowest event total for the night for them.
Of note
The Utes will find out on Monday where they will compete in the NCAA Regionals on April 6. Most projections have the Utes going to Columbus, Ohio. … Cal will host the Pac-12 Championships next year.
