Bob Farrington announced this week he is resigning his position as Salt Lake City Economic Development director.

Since his appointment in June 2008, Farrington has promoted development of neighborhood business districts and creation of the City's Small Business Initiative, placing increased emphasis on assistance to small and local businesses. The revolving loan fund also saw a surge in participants.

Farrington has also been involved in the initial planning and creation of the Utah Performing Arts Center, the downtown cultural core project and the rebuilding of North Temple.

A news release said he now plans to focus on new opportunities throughout the state.
