Here's what's happening this weekend in pop culture:

• Both NBC and reps for CNN's Anderson Cooper are both denying reports that Cooper has been approached to replace Matt Lauer on "Today." It's the latest in a barrage of media about the embattled morning show and the much-gossiped about host. [The Hollywood Reporter, New York]

• Former Olympic skater Dorothy Hamill had to drop out of "Dancing With the Stars" because of a nagging spinal injury. [Entertainment Weekly]

• Not content to lose the money they already have, the producers behind the "Atlas Shrugged" movies are planning to make the final chapter of the trilogy based on Ayn Rand's right-wing mega-novel — to be in theaters in summer 2014, in time for the midterm elections. [The Wall Street Journal]
