Salt Lake City police are investigating what led up to an Easter Sunday gunshot at a downtown area apartment. No one was hurt.

Det. Rick Wall said officers were called to the apartment complex at 128 N. "K" Street about 7:20 p.m. Sunday after a resident discovered a bullet hole through the back of his kitchen cabinet, and a broken bottle inside.

It was not known exactly when the gunshot occurred, but a 28-year-old man in an adjacent apartment was cited for discharge of a firearm within city limits.

Wall said investigators were uncertain Monday exactly how the firearm went off, whether the neighbor was cleaning the weapon or dropped it, but police had decided the incident was accidental.
