Police on Monday identified a Logan man who was found dead in the Logan River on Friday, but the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery.
Logan Police Capt. Jeff Curtis said the man, identified as 64-year-old Kenneth Schwartz, lived near the spot where his fishing gear was spotted. Schwartz's body was discovered by a passerby downstream near 843 South and 100 West on Friday morning.
Curtis said police had not yet heard back from the State Medical Examiner's Office as of Monday, so they still know very little about what led to Schwartz's death. On Friday, Logan Police Chief Gary Jensen said in an interview that investigators believed the death was accidental, but he declined to say how they came to that determination.
