Ontario, Calif. • The Ontario Reign scored five goals in the second period en route to a 7-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday night to take a 2-0 series lead in their best-of-seven ECHL playoff series.
C.J. Stretch scored three goals in the second and one more in the third as the second-seeded Reign led 6-0 before Utah's Riley Armstrong scored with about five minutes remaining in the second.
Ben Meisner was pulled early the second after allowing three goals on 12 shots, although his replacement, Shane Owen, allowed three goals on eight shots in the period. The Reign and Grizzlies each had 11 shots in the second period.
The series continues Friday and Saturday at the Maverik Center in West Valley City. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
