There's a rather dour saying about this time of year: "May your devastating winter blues finally give way to your debilitating spring allergies."

A more upbeat National Weather Service adds: May northern Utah's weekend forecast for intermittent sunshine and rainstorms relieve you of both.

The Wasatch Front looked for highs in the upper-50s on Saturday, mirroring Friday's forecast. Saturday's rainfall was expected to begin in the morning, taken a break and then resume — accompanied in places by thunder and lightning — in the afternoon and evening.

Southern Utahns, though, expected to keep the spring warmth without the wet breaks. Highs for Utah's Dixie on Saturday were pegged in the upper-70s, the same as forecast for Friday.

That northern Utah rainfall — along with hopefully dampening down allergens — was to keep air quality in the "Green," or healthy range throughout the weekend, according to the Utah Division of Air Quality.

The Utah Avalanche Center listed the mountain slopes of the Wasatch Front as "moderate" for risk of dangerous snow slides going into the weekend.

Salt Lake City's high temperature Saturday was predicted to hit 59, down from Friday's 60-degree forecast; Ogden looked for 58 and 59 degrees, respectively; Provo 62s; Logan 54 and 56; Wendover 59 and 60; Duchesne 61 and 64; Cedar City 66s; St. George 80s; and Moab 76 and 70 degrees.
