Commerce City, Colo. • Real Salt Lake couldn't overcome its disastrous start.

The Colorado Rapids scored a goal in the game's fifth minute, and RSL forward Alvaro Saborio saw a penalty kick saved just four minutes later. That would be all the difference Colorado needed to beat Salt Lake 1-0 Saturday night in the second leg of the Rocky Mountain Cup.

The game-winner started with a pass from Colorado's Hendry Thomas to a streaking Nick LaBrocca. LaBrocca settled a pass with his chest and crossed the ball into the box. Forward Edson Buddle was swarmed by RSL defenders but held the ball up in front of the goal until he poked it out to teammate Atiba Harris for an easy score.

RSL would have a chance to equalize just four minutes later, though.

The referee awarded a penalty kick after a collision in the box between RSL captain Kyle Beckerman and Colorado's Dillon Powers.

But when forward Alvaro Saborio tried to beat Rapid goalkeeper Clint Irwin to the goalie's left, Irwin's dive pushed the ball off the post.
