Sports briefs: Report says Gronkowski's arm is infected

NFL • The New England Patriots say they don't have any comment on published reports that tight end Rob Gronkowski has an infection in his broken arm that could keep him out into the season.

The Boston Herald reported Sunday that Gronkowski has an infection in the area where a metal plate was installed to repair his left forearm. Doctors will have to wait for the infection to go away to replace the plate, and Gronkowski would need 10 weeks after that to recover, the paper said.

Gronkowski has been injured in each of the last two seasons, including the broken arm he sustained blocking for an extra point late in a blowout win over Indianapolis on Nov. 18.

• Darrelle Revis needs to participate in the New York Jets' voluntary workouts beginning next week, according to a clause in his contract, to collect $3 million in bonuses he's scheduled to earn.

The star cornerback, the subject of trade rumors, has been rehabilitating his surgically repaired left knee in Arizona, but is expected to report to the team's facility in Florham Park, N.J., for the start of the Jets' offseason conditioning program next week.

Hunter-Reay wins in Birmingham

Auto racing • Andretti Autosport remained perfect on the year Sunday when defending IndyCar Series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay snapped Penske Racing's winning streak at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. Hunter-Reay held off Scott Dixon, who finished second for the fourth consecutive year.
