Utah Jazz: Injured Kanter meets with doctors in New York

Jazz center Enes Kanter was in New York on Monday, consulting with doctors about his dislocated right shoulder.

Kanter was injured on March 27 against Phoenix. He has missed the last six games and, although the Jazz have not announced a official timetable for his recovery, it seems unlikely he will return this season.

In his second season, Kanter averages 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds as the fourth member of coach Tyrone Corbin's center-power rotation that also includes Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and Derrick Favors.

The Jazz, coming off a 97-90 win at Golden State on Sunday night, are 41-37 with four games remaining in the regular season.

They are one-half game ahead of the Lakers in the battle for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Utah also owns the tie-breaker with Los Angeles after winning the head-to-head season series from the Lakers, 2-1.

While the win put the Jazz in a better place in the playoff race, it didn't guarantee them anything.

Utah plays Oklahoma City on Tuesday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

"We still have a lot of work to do," coach Tyrone Corbin said prior to practice Monday. "We're in a good position now. We don't have to back into a spot. ... But we have four games left and they're all going to be tough games. We have to keep our foot on the pedal and understand what we have to do."

Besides Kanter, the Jazz could be without Alec Burks against the Thunder. He missed practice because of a sprained ankle. Marvin Williams did not participate, either. He was sent home with the stomach flu.
