It is a cruel irony that we anguish over the loss of 70,000 lives in Syria while virtually ignoring the 70,000 lives lost in Mexico as a direct result of our laws regarding both gun sales and recreational drug use.
Why doesn't anyone acknowledge the naked emperor? Our interpretation of an individual's virtually unrestricted right to keep and bear arms in the Second Amendment has resulted in the loss of more American lives than in all our wars combined. Sanity would dictate that it be reinterpreted to refer solely to "well-regulated militias" so sensible limitations on gun ownership could be enacted.
