Cost of obits

I lost my sister to cancer two weeks ago. She was only 60, too young to die. She lived and worked in Salt Lake City and was a productive citizen.

I sent her obituary to newspapers in the two previous cities where she had lived and still has many friends. One obituary was free of charge, and one paper charged a nominal fee.

I was totally unprepared when MediaOne wanted $362 to run a short obituary for one day in The Tribune. Am I the only one who feels like this is taking advantage of people in their time of grief?

How do families living on less than I do honor their loved ones? Is this paper catering only to the wealthy? I am so very disappointed. You have no compassion.
