Ban texting

Thank you, Kaye Nelson, for "Texting can be deadly" (Forum, April 4). Whether a driver is talking or texting, it is not safe.

In today's society of instant gratification, common sense has become nonexistent. How many more lives will be lost due to distracted driving?

If you feel you must respond immediately to a phone call or text message, pull off. Otherwise, your automobile becomes a several-ton missile that puts you and others in jeopardy.

Next year, our state legislators should consider outlawing texting while driving, for everyone, not just teens. Just saying.
