American Fork High band selected to perform in 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Today, American Fork High School Marching Band was surprised to receive the news that they have been selected to perform in the 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

We are so thrilled to once again welcome back American Fork High School Marching Band to the Macy's Parade. John and his incredible staff and students are sure to once again impress our audience and make the state of Utah proud," said Wesley Whatley, creative director, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, in a press release."Marching in the Macy's Parade is usually a once in a lifetime opportunity for a band and to be invited to perform a second time is an extremely high honor for the American Fork Band and myself," said John Miller, band director. "Marching in the 2007 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was one of the highlights of our band experiences and one that we will always cherish. We are honored and excited to have this opportunity again to represent our school, city and state."Doug Finch, principal of American Fork High School, said, "The administration of American Fork High School is pleased and honored with the opportunity to receive an invitation from the Macy's Parade organizers to be included in the 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Understanding the great tradition of this historical event, we are excited for the opportunity to participate in and contribute to this great American celebration. It would surely provide a very memorable and rewarding experience for our students and community."American Fork High School Marching Band was selected to be one of 10 marching ensembles in the 2014 Parade beating out of more than 175 applicants nationwide.

For the next 18 months, the band will prepare for their big performance on Thanksgiving Day.
