The Sanpete County Sheriff's Office on Friday identified the man killed when he was run over by a truck after it stalled on a hill.

Ruben Maldonaldo, 40, of Ephraim, died Thursday in the accident at an industrial construction site just off U.S. 89 near mile post 294, near Indianola.

Sheriff Brian Nielson said deputies and emergency medical workers rushed to the site at 9:16 a.m. Thursday.

Two men were pulling a piece of heavy equipment with the truck when the vehicle stalled, unable to make it up a steep hill. The truck started to roll backward and Maldonaldo jumped out, and shortly thereafter was run over by the rig, Nielson said.

The passenger remained inside the truck and was not hurt.

Investigation of the accident was ongoing.
