The Oregon State baseball team scored the eventual game-winner in the first inning and the Utah baseball team ended a pitchers' duel with a 1-0 loss in Corvallis, Ore. Utah's Mitch Watrous had three strikeouts and allowed four hits in seven innings.
College of Southern Nevada 7-3, SLCC 3-0 • The Bruins lost both games in Henderson, Nev., despite outhitting the conference-leading Coyotes in game two.
BYU 11, Portland 7 • After trailing 4-0, the Cougars won in Provo with a boost from Jaycob Brugman's three-run home run.
Softball
Oregon State 6, Utah 2 • The Utes lost their series opener with the Beavers in Corvallis. Sophomore Kate Dickman drove in the Utes' only runs.
Loyola Marymount 8-5, BYU 2-0 • The Cougars lost both games at home, with just two hits in game two.
Seattle 3-2, Utah State 1-1 • The Aggies lost both games in Seattle despite the work of senior Mandy Harmon, who had a no-hitter through 62⁄3 innings in the second game before Seattle broke through.
Women's tennis
New Mexico State 6, Utah State 2 • USU lost in the battle of the Aggies in Las Cruces, N.M. Sophomore McKenzie Davis helped earn the doubles point and won the only singles point for Utah State.
SLCC 3-8, College of Southern Idaho 4-2 • The Bruins split their doubleheader in Taylorsville. Sophomore Whitney Holt finished with a combined two home runs and five RBIs for SLCC.
Northern Arizona 5, Southern Utah 2 • The Thunderbirds saw their three-match winning streak snapped in Sedona, Ariz. The loss drops SUU (9-6) to 4-3 in the Big Sky Conference.
Track & field
Aoife Hickey qualified for the European Championships in the hammer throw and Destanae Howerton-Davis broke a school record with a first-place mark of 48-10 feet in the shot put in the Utes' meet in Salt Lake City. Also for the Utes, Langley Iverson won the high jump and Amanda Mergaert won the 800-meter race.
