3A girls' MVP: Quinn does a little of everything for Judge

She recorded triple-doubles, five to be exact, but who is counting?

She led all of Class 3A in scoring and helped her Judge team to a 15-7 record and a playoff spot.

And now she's been named The Tribune's Class 3A Most Valuable Player.

Not a bad junior season for Kailie Quinn.

Quinn was the logical choice for the top honor considering the massive numbers she put up for the Bulldogs.

The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 20 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. She also passed out 3.0 assists and averaged 6.0 steals per game.

"She led our team by example," Judge coach Anthony Alford said. "She nearly averaged a triple-double for us in the first five games, and there were two or three games where she almost had a quadruple-double. She focused on the goals we set as a team and she got in the weight room in the summer and came into the season a lot stronger. She never stops moving on the court. She's just been a joy to coach."

Quinn proved her value to the team with her diversity. She played all five positions and was a disrupting force on defense.

"Honestly, I just go out and play as hard as I can every game and I don't worry about the stats," Quinn said. "I came into the season with the hope that I could achieve some things that I didn't do last year. I just want to improve every year."

Quinn now has turned her focus to the softball field, but she's already preparing for next year. She will play in an AAU tournament next week and most of her summer already is booked with basketball tournaments as she prepares to help Judge make a title run.

"I think the experience we got this year is really going to help us next year," Quinn said. "We just have to keep working hard and trying to improve as a team, and hopefully it will help us win a state championship." —
