In "Same-sex aberration" (Forum, April 14), Paul Sharp is oblivious to the fact that some males are actually born with female parts and some females with male parts. It therefore is no stretch of the imagination to understand that some individuals may be born with no physically noticeable sexual "aberrations," but may have an internal hormonal malfunction.

Sharp inadvertently addressed his own concerns in his last paragraph: "If homosexuals were 'wired that way,' it would be because some mutation caused things to get cross-wired." With the current emphasis on increased environmental toxins that could contribute to this type of problem, the sociologists and doctors who Sharp dismisses understand this and are not adopting "foolish thinking."

People with same-sex attraction deserve and require more acceptance and understanding and less judgmental discrimination.
