Selling Utah

Gov. Gary Herbert was in California trying to attract business to Utah ("Utah, Virginia mount joint raid on California jobs," Tribune," April 10). Oh, really? What does he figure will attract the workers?

Could it be Utah's wonderful air quality? How about our outstanding public education system, so underfunded it ranks at the bottom? And how 'bout those liquor laws? Big night life here.

Our public transportation is a real bonus, if you don't mind spending more for less convenience. But, hey, you can drive your car among some of the worst drivers on the planet.

Where else can you suffer through polluted air in winter while our religiouslature is in session? That bunch of clowns provides serious entertainment to all of us stupid enough to keep them in office.

We have the nation's highest birthrate and the most vanishing open spaces. We have people who still deny that Barack Obama is American, who don't believe in climate change, who hate the U.S. government but are glad to take its money and who chase down wildlife on motorized paragliders!

Sounds like paradise to me. Good luck, governor.
