Nominations open to honor Utah women who own businesses

The National Association of Women Business Owners, Salt Lake City Chapter, is seeking nominations for this year's top honors for women who have taken their entrepreneurial spirit to the highest level.

The group will honor a Woman Business Owner of the Year, nonmember Woman Business Owner of the Year and 2013 Rising Star with annual awards at a banquet on June 19.

The two top awards are presented to women who have demonstrated strong leadership skills in growing and managing a successful business that is more than three years old, while also volunteering and and being involved in civic activities.

The NAWBO Rising Star Award is presented to an owner who has demonstrated entrepreneurial creativity and determination in successfully managing a business that is less than three years old.

The deadline for nominations is April 27.

The banquet is set for Pierpont Place, 163 W. Pierpont Ave., Salt Lake City.

Founded in 1975, the National Association of Women Business Owners supports women entrepreneurs. The Salt Lake City Chapter — one of 80 nationwide — has been providing a voice and vision for women entrepreneurs and business owners since 1992, and previous to 1980, when the organization was known as UAWBO.
