Bambara • 202 S. Main Street, Salt Lake City; 801-363-5454. Order the $13 "Powers" lunch special between April 22 and 26 and $1 will be donated to The Nature Conservancy. The special named for chef Nathan Powers includes a choice of organic greens or soup, choice of turkey wrap, beef hamburger or daily special; and a turtle cookie.
Faustina • 454 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City; 801-746-4441. On Monday, April 22, the restaurant will be serving dinner by candlelight, to remind customers to conserve energy. The $30 special is a grass-fed New York strip steak from Snake River Farms in Idaho, vegetable ratatouille using goods from Parker Produce in Hooper.
Jasoh! prime & pub • 195 Historic 25th Street, Ogden; 801-399-0088. On Monday, April 22, the restaurant will offer a five-course benefit dinner featuring ingredients from several Utah food producers. Cost is $50 per person, with $15 going to the Slow Food Utah's Mirco-grant program. Wine pairings additional. Become a Slow Food member and get a $10 discount off your dinner.
Liberty Heights Fresh • 1290 S. 1100 East, Salt Lake City; 801-583-7374. On Friday, April 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the specialty market will host a book-signing and talk by Beverly Wheeler Mastrim, illustrator of the book Sunset of the Farmer a tribute to farmers and a memoir of growing up on her grandparents' farm, now Wheeler Historic Farm. There will also be free samples from local food artisans.
Oasis • 151 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City; 801-322-0404. The restaurant will be serve dinner by candlelight April 22-28 to remind customers to conserve energy. The restaurant also is offering a three-course meal for $25 that includes soup or salad, sauteed halibut over spaghetti and a lemon cheesecake with kiwi sauce.
