A wonderful concept was unintentionally presented in the caption to the picture accompanying "For Utahn, debate over guns, self-defense frighteningly real" (Tribune, April 14). It said: "Eric Martin shown armed with his fiancée …"
More people should be armed with fiancées (instead of guns). Unlike guns, fiancées are welcome everywhere malls, churches, even on planes and in schools (though children should not have or be fiancées).
Fiancées do not require concealed-carry permits. Best of all, your openly displayed fiancée will elicit not cringes in fear but broad smiles and warm wishes.
