After falling behind by five runs in the first inning, the University of Utah baseball team rallied to beat Utah Valley 7-6 on Tuesday in Orem.
Utah's Braden Anderson hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to tie the game at 6-6, and he eventually scored the go-ahead run on Tyler Relf's squeeze-play bunt.
Relf had three hits and two RBIs for the Utes (15-7).
Kai Hatch and Taylor Berg each hit a two-run single in the first inning as UVU (14-21) took a 6-1 lead.
Softball
Utah Valley 3, Utah State 2 • In Logan, UVU shortstop Krystin Jachim drove in the winning run in the top of the seventh inning with a bases-loaded single. Relief pitcher Tiffany Mills earned the win for the Wolverines (25-15) by pitching 22⁄3 perfect innings.
Golf
In Bremerton, Wash., BYU's Joe Parkinson shot a 73 in the second round of the West Coast Conference Championship at Gold Mountain Golf Club, putting him in a tie for third place at 1-under 143. Teammate Zac Blair was tied for fifth at 144, and the Cougars were in fourth place in the team standings.
BYU's Lea Garner (4-over 148) sits in fourth place in the women's competition, helping put the Cougars in third place.
