The investigative trail has gone cold in the search for an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle stolen last month from prominent gun lobbyist and instructor Clark Aposhian.
"No, we have not yet located the rifle and we have no new leads," Cottonwood Heights Sgt. Mark Askerlund said Thursday. "We do have it listed on NCIC [National Crime Information Center] but we haven't yet turned up anything from pawn shops or gunbroker websites."
The rifle, inside a case, was stolen from Aposhian's locked car the night of March 27 outside his home in the 1600 East block of 7200 South.
Aposhian, chairman of the Utah Shooting Sports Council, declined Thursday to discuss either the theft or the subsequent investigation.
