Jake Antonio Arrats, accused of crashing into a Roosevelt woman and nearly severing her leg, has a warrant out for his arrest.
On Jan. 28, Keri Houston, 18, was getting out of her car near 200 E. 700 South when police say Arrats crashed into her. The impact nearly took off her leg below the knee, according to police.
Arrats, 27, was scheduled to appear in 8th District Court on Thursday to be arraigned on his charges: seven misdemeanors, including texting while driving and driving under the influence. But according to a court docket, Arrats failed to appear and Judge Lyle Anderson issued a warrant for his arrest, with bail set at $15,000.
Arrats has a criminal history dating to 2004. He has been convicted twice on weapons-related charges, as well as aggravated assault, threat of violence, criminal mischief, unlawful detention, intoxication and possession of alcohol by a minor, court records show.
