Adam Kennedy, Marvin Jean tweet about transfers from Utah State

Two Utah State athletes announced their plans to transfer on Twitter on Friday afternoon, confirming that they won't be suiting up for the Aggies again.

Quarterback Adam Kennedy, who did not participate in football practice this spring, announced he's planning to go to Arkansas State, giving substance to rumors that cropped up this week.

"Excited to play next year at Arkansas State! Looking forward to the opportunity to work with the players/coaches at ASU! #BigThingsAhead" he tweeted.

Kennedy was the subject of speculation on the Arkansas State blog, Howl Yes, as a possible transfer.

In the 2011 season, Kennedy stepped in after Chuckie Keeton was brought down by injury and went 4-1 in five starts, and helped win a game in Hawaii that was a momentum-swinger for Utah State's season. He proved a capable starter, throwing for over 900 yards and 11 touchdowns for the year.

Kennedy came in to last year's fall camp as a potential challenger to Keeton, but was beaten out for the starting job. He was injured against Southern Utah last season, and did not return to action for 2012.

Basketball player Marvin Jean also tweeted his plans to transfer to a yet undetermined school, confirming an earlier report by CBS Sports and confirmed by the Tribune. His account is private, but he expressed his thanks to Aggie fans.

"S/o to #aggienation who showed me hella love and support throughout the season. Got nothing but love for ya. #usu" he tweeted.

Jean became a key member of the guard rotation after Utah State was stricken with injuries. He started 16 games and scored 4.8 points per contest.

Matt Lopez is also expected to transfer over the summer, after averaging just over seven minutes per game last season.

Aggies officially announce basketball signees

On Friday afternoon, Utah State officially recognized its two newest basketball recruits: Jojo McGlaston and Viko Noma'aea.

The two guards signed and sent National Letters of Intent on Thursday afternoon, the Tribune reported, but the school has confirmed via news release that they'll be Aggies this fall.

McGlaston hails from Dublin High (Dublin, Calif.), where the 6-foot-4 guard helped lead the Gaels to a league title and a berth in the division championship game. He averaged 22 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 58 percent from the field. His highlight tape shows an athletic dunker and versatile guard.

"JoJo is a tremendous athlete who can score in a variety of ways," Stew Morrill said in the release. "He has the talent to become a very good Mountain West Conference performer on both ends of the court."

Noma'aea is two years out from his career at Sierra Vista High (Las Vegas, Nev.) after serving a mission in Paris, France. As a prep star, the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 17.7 points, 5.3 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game as the Mountain Lions went to the state semifinals.

"He shoots, penetrates and passes the ball very well," Morrill said. "He is also confident in his abilities, which is an important quality for a young player."
