Real Salt Lake center back Chris Schuler underwent surgery Sunday after breaking a bone in his hand during Saturday night's win over Chivas USA.
Schuler fractured his left fourth metacarpal during a tackle late in the first half. The surgery was essentially the same one teammate Sebastian Velasquez underwent last week. Velasquez missed one game before returning to action Saturday. A Real Salt Lake spokesman said Schuler could be available to play as early as this weekend against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
