Western Nebraska Community College continues to turn to Utah to stock its roster with talented high school basketball stars. The junior college in Scottsbluff, Neb., announced last week that it has signed Syracuse High's Diante Mitchell and Mountain Crest High's Tyler Crosbie. The Utah prep all-staters will begin playing for the Cougars next fall. Western Nebraska CC is coached by former Utahn Russell Beck. "We are absolutely pleased that these two young men have chosen to pursue an education and further their already decorated basketball careers here at Western Nebraska," Beck said. "Not only will these two provide us with one of the best freshman backcourts in the NJCAA, but they are both young men that have high character and an amazing work ethic." Mitchell is a 6-foot-2 point guard who was named second-team all-state in Class 5A last season. Crosbie is a 6-1 shooting guard and a 4A first-team all-state pick who helped the Mustangs make it to the 4A state championship game. "We expect both of them to step in right away and we feel that they are going to give us a dynamic 1-2 punch," Beck said.
