Hospital marriage

I'm a chaplain at the University of Utah Medical Center. Last week, a patient on the edge of death asked to be married to the love of his life.

To do so was complicated because only his prospective wife could travel to the county clerk's office to obtain the marriage license. After a phone call explaining the situation, Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen personally came to the hospital and delivered the documents.

As the couple wed, family filled the room from wall to wall. In the face of death, they celebrated life.

Thank you, Sherrie Swensen, for taking the time and making the effort to serve your constituency.
