• Alt-pop/folktronica group alt-J performs at The Complex, 536 W. 100 South, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Wildcat! Wildcat! The show (which was originally scheduled for April 4 at The Urban Lounge) starts at 6:30. Tickets are $18, at Smith's Tix.

• Singer-songwriter James McCartney (yes, Paul's son) performs an acoustic set at Kilby Court, 741 S. Kilby Court (330 West), Salt Lake City. Opening acts: Benny Marchant, Jay William Henderson. Show starts at 7. Tickets are $15, at 24Tix.

• Environmental activist Tim DeChristopher makes his first public appearance since getting out of federal custody, at a screening of the documentary about him, "Bidder 70," at the Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South, Salt Lake City. The event starts with music at 6:30, the movie at 7, and DeChristopher taking the stage with filmmakers Beth and George Gage after the film. Tickets are $15 (with proceeds going to DeChristopher and to the group Peaceful Uprising), at the Tower box office.
