Clearfield's own Caleb Gardiner earns esteemed title of Pokémon Spring Regional Champion

Clearfield's own Caleb Gardiner, after a weekend of head-to-head Pokémon battles, took first place in the video game Junior Division and earned the esteemed title of Spring Regional Champion in Salt Lake City.

With his win, Caleb also earned a travel award to compete at the 2013 Pokémon U.S. National Championship this summer. There, Caleb will compete for an invitation to the 2013 Pokémon World Championships held next August in Vancouver, B.C. where contestants will battle for the ultimate title of Pokémon World Champion. "Congratulations to all of the Pokémon Spring Regional Champions and a special thank you to the thousands of family, friends and Pokémon fans who attended the five events throughout North America," said J.C. Smith, director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International, in a press release. "The Spring Regionals brought some awesome competition and we're excited for even more competitive fun at the upcoming Pokémon U.S. National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana." Players of all ages and skills are encouraged to participate in Play! Pokémon events.
