Police continued Tuesday to search for a pistol-toting man whose behavior triggered a lockdown of a Millcreek elementary school all day Monday.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the suspect described as 6-foot Latino in his 20s, 170 pounds, with short dark hair and wearing a tan coat and blue jeans had not yet been located.
Meanwhile, operations at Roosevelt Elementary School, 3225 S. 800 East had returned normal Tuesday morning.
About 9 a.m. Monday a teaching assistant spotted the suspect walking around cars in the school's parking lot, carrying a semi-automatic handgun. At one point, the suspect was seen to pull the gun's slide back and rack a round into the weapon's chamber.
Granite School District officials placed the school on lock down until the end of the school day as a precaution, and officers were stationed at the school for the day.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000.
