An Ogden police officer was hospitalized Wednesday after he was injured in a crash.

The motorcycle officer was driving south on Washington Boulevard when a northbound passenger vehicle turned west at the 30th South intersection, said Lt. Tony Fox.

The vehicle apparently turned in front of the motorcycle, and the officer struck its side, at 3:54 p.m., said Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson. UHP is investigating the crash, since it involves an officer.

The officer was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital Center. Fox did not know how serious the officer's injuries were, though they did not sound extensive. He was conscious and talking as he was taken to the hospital, Fox said.

The driver, a 48-year-old woman from Willard, should have yielded to the officer, Johnson said.
