Plant sales

Red Butte Gardens and Wasatch Community Gardens will hold plant sales this month. Customers can purchase yard and garden plants including heirloom tomatoes and peppers.

Red Butte Garden • Friday, May 3, 1 to 8 p.m. for members; Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the public. Sale takes place at 300 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City. Details at

Avenues Proper opens

The Avenues Proper Restaurant & Publick House opened last week at 376 E. 8th Avenue, in Salt Lake City. The restaurant, located in the building next to Hatch Family Chocolates, is currently serving dinner Tuesday-Sunday beginning at 5 p.m. Lunch and weekend brunch will be offered in the coming weeks. The menu includes $3 appetizers as well as small plates, salads and entrees priced from $14-$20. Specialties includes house-made sausage, Utah elk carpaccio, and hamburger made with grass-fed beef and Utah cheese. Wine, craft beers and cocktails available. Tour de Brewtah's food truck finale

Registration for the Tour de Brewtah — a bike tour of downtown pubs — is closed. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the food truck finale at the Gallivan Center. Participating food trucks include: Better Burger, Lewis Bros., Island Hopper Grill, The Chow Truck and Wakipaki. Some 800 riders are registered to participate in this year's Star Wars-themed ride. Organizers expect to raise $10,000 to donate to the Homeless Youth Resource Center, Wasatch Community Gardens and The Sharing Place.

Cookbook signing

Bitters and Bites

Tickets are still available for Bitters and Bites, a night of cocktails and appetizers, sponsored by SLC Bites. Guests will get to sample drinks made by local "mixologists" and food from Naked Fish, Mazza and Eva's Bakery.

Happy Monkey expanding
