Re "Utah activist Tim DeChristopher greeted as hero at film" (Tribune, April 24):

Sadly, in going overboard in the prosecution and sentencing of Tim DeChristopher, his opponents have made him a martyr. His time in prison for an act of conscience has put him in the class of Martin Luther King, Mohandas Gandhi and Henry David Thoreau.

He's now Saint DeChristopher.

Had they just slapped his hand instead of throwing the book at him, he wouldn't even be Tim DeChristopher. He'd be, you know, that guy who disrupted a federal auction with bogus bids on oil leases. What was his name?

Now, he's a self-righteous voice of "moral authority" in an environmental field already overstocked with smug, "moral" advocates. Good going, guys. We don't need any more such saints.
