Salt Lake police seek pair who stole car from hospital lot

Police are seeking a man and a woman who they say stole a 77-year-old woman's car from the parking garage of LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

According to a Thursday news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department, a man and a woman drove through the hospital's garage about noon in a late-model Jeep. The vehicle stopped next to a 1995 Ford Escort, and one of the suspects got out. The Jeep could be seen on a surveillance video driving away with the Ford Escort following.

On Wednesday, Jeanette Casazza said in an interview that she left her car with a parking attendant at about 11 a.m. just before a doctor's appointment at the hospital. When she came back less than an hour later, the car was gone, and no one in the parking garage, including security staff, seemed to know how it disappeared, she said.

Police described Casazza's car as a dark green four-door model Escort with license plate number 063 JCL.

The suspects' vehicle is described as a black Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport, with the model year between 2009 and 2011. The front bumper is black on the corners and silver in the center.

Surveillance footage showed a woman driving the Jeep. She had long, dark hair and was wearing a red or pink blouse. The man is described as having longer, light-colored hair and possibly a light colored beard. He was wearing a silver- and possibly maroon-striped shirt.
