Jordyn Dougal fired a final-round 79 Friday at the Great West Conference Championships to finish in second place — the highest finish of her college career.

However, for the second straight year, the Wolverines (997) finished second behind Houston (977), while Chicago State was third (1001) and University of Texas-Pan American (1018).

The Utah Valley senior golfer, who hails from San Antonio, trailed tournament leader Houston Baptist's Kelsey Lou-Hing by five shots heading into the final day. Her 79 was tied for the third-best round of the day at the par-72, 6,239- yard The Dominion Country Country Club.

"It was awesome that she finished her college career on such a high note," UVU women's golf coach Sue Nyhus said.

It was Dougal's fourth top-10 finish of the season.
