Sandy • Real Salt Lake could not overcome a pair of first half goals, falling to the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday night.

L.A. midfielder Mike Magee struck first, heading in a Juninho free kick in the game's sixth minute. Seven minutes later, forward Charlie Rugg, making his MLS debut in place of an injured Robbie Keane, tapped in a shot that beat RSL goalie Nick Rimando.

L.A. keeper Brian Rowe, also making his MLS debut, survived a late onslaught as RSL looked to cut the lead. With time winding down, RSL hit the crossbar, the post and had another shot saved.
