The NBA's relocation and finance committees on Monday recommended that the Board of Governor's, in next month's final vote, reject a bid to move the Sacramento Kings to Seattle.

The group of 12 owners, which includes Jazz CEO Greg Miller, convened by conference call and considered competing bids from a group led by Steve Ballmer and Chris Hansen that would have moved the Kings to Seattle, which has not had a team since the SuperSonics left for Oklahoma City in 2008, and from a Sacramento group organized by mayor and former NBA point guard Kevin Johnson.

While the NBA's Board of Governors, which includes one ownership representative for all 30 teams, has final say in the matter, Monday's vote was an important hurdle for the Sacramento group, and a crushing, final blow for Seattle.
